About

"In 1990, a shy sixteen-year-old asked his coach one question as they approached his first week of international rowing trials, "what do I do"? to which his coach replied, "keep pulling hard until someone tells you to stop"!

Thirty-three years later, no one has told him to stop, and the headwinds have been calm to galeforce. Yet, that simple but powerful advice has seen Richard become a Junior World Champion, Olympian, Junior World Champion Rowing Coach, Business Owner, Dairy Farmer, Director, Shareholder, Ambassador and father to three amazing young adults."

From getting into his first rowing boat in the Uk in 1987 to owning a large agricultural business in North East Victoria in 2023, his straightforward approach to life through controlling what is controllable has seen him overcome farming and sporting setbacks and succeed.

His passion for inspiring others to live their ‘best life” is contagious, and he easily relates to individuals and groups from all aspects of business and life. In a world where humans are making life more complicated, his unique ability to strip life back and provide simple, practical, and functional solutions to navigate the changing times ahead is refreshing and inspiring. Richard learnt early on in life that he could not control the opposition or the weather when racing, so he has learnt to overcome the fear factor many of these areas bring to businesses and develop strategies to overcome them.

Richard’s energy for life, passion and motivation for helping others turn their professional or personal lives around is inspirational. When you meet him, you will feel a connection and confidence that is the same connection and trust he used to inspire the nine young men to become Junior World Rowing Champions.

You may never become a sporting World Champion, but Richard will inspire you to become your own World Champion in any area of life you choose.
Motivated, passionate and driven, you will find it hard to leave his presence and not go and climb that mountain you thought was impossible.

Testimonials

Richard Hamilton is an amazing human who has been an ambassador to our Charity for over 3 years. Richard’s passion and enthusiasm for motivating others to be the best versions of themselves is not only captivating but inspiring. Richard doesn’t just ‘talk the talk’ he motivates via his actions.

We have been so fortunate to have Richard deliver his leadership talks to many youth as well as our staff over the past couple of years. He has a great ability to engage with his audience and leaves them with tangible actions they can use in their everyday lives.

Richard is very much a part of the reason, we have been able to see rapid growth for our organisation as well as increasing the impact we have upon the youth we support.

Our year six students have explored what leadership means, their legacy and how they can help Holy Spirit be even better than it is. We have been lucky to have former Olympic rower Richard Hamilton speak to them about leadership.

Hammers was one of my most memorable coaches with enthusiasm, drive and passion for excellence evident from the first moment I met him. He has a particular attention to detail which left a lasting impression but with an uncanny knack to trust and enable us athletes to get on with and execute the job of winning medals.

Zac Purchase-Hill MBE, OLY

In a hugely enjoyable and visual presentation, Richard shared his story. He highlighted the benefits of visualisation before an event, visualising yourself on top of the world if you want to get there, looking after all the people of an organisation, and practising putting yourself in difficult situations so the real you aligns with your desired behaviours under stress.
